Jasmyne in Hospital

Hey all, just posting up the latest news. Tuesday I took Jasmyne (6) to the doctors for a routine checkup because she was “going” a lot to the point that it was becoming an issue. When they did the urine check they found sugar content in there. They attempted to do a blood check but because my daughter fears needles they failed to acquire enough blood to do the test. They informed me after checking twice of their findings.

They then said you must take Jasmyne Immediately to the emergency room. After they telling me that there may be a problem I took here there right away. Once there they drew blood and in that they found that her sugar levels was around 400. Normal is 100-200.

Jasmyne is now admitted to the hospital. She has been diagnosed with diabetes. We have lowered her levels to where they belong but they said that most likely this is permanent. There is shred of hope and that is removing Risperdal medication from her system. She has been on it since last August. In saying that, that is a long slim shot that anything will improve. But seems to be a fleeing light in the tunnel.

It has only been less than 24 hours and it seems like a week or two. So much as gone on. Doctor, after Doctor. My poor baby… She is terrified of needles and now she must endure 4 to 5 shots of insulin and 4 to 5 poke blood tests to check her levels.

It took me and 3 nurses to hold her down to get the first sample. She has fought every shot, check, and person whom walked in. She is truly terrified, and as a father there is really nothing you can do but try to calm her. Tonight she goes to bed with three band-aids on, several spots on here face where she was screaming so hard she busted blood vessels on her face and cheeks, and she could barely talk because she had no voice left because of her screaming.

The worst things that I can say are that a six year olds do not understand how this small pain can help her. She sees pain. When your child screams for help, and for the pain to stop, and looks to you as a Dad to stop it and all you can do is hold her down is just kills..

Her words… “I don’t want to eat because then I will get a shot.” , “I don’t want to drink because then I will get a shot”.

To her the prick of the finger is a knife wound to the heart as she has a sensory disorder. The shots are like swords.

She screams “I want to go home, away from the shots.” And my only response is. “ Hunny. When you go home Mommie and I will have to give you the shots.” You can see her crumble inside as if she has in to a well..

It is hard to understand her vision as I am not there. The pricks and needles are a 1, or a 2 on my pain scale but a 15 on hers. She towards the end of today has progressed from 1 hour of screaming and throwing fits about 10 minutes of loosing it. I pray that no father has to have their children tortured like this. Having 3 or 4 adults restraining one child. For her, her world has just turned completely upside down.

On a positive note. She still loves Mommy and Daddy. She asked for me to hold her to go to bed tonight and gave kisses to both of us.

It really is the worst feeling in the world to have to cause such extreme perceived pain over, and over, and over again for the one reason to help your own child to live and she can’t see/understand that fact.

Prayers are welcome.

Cleaning off the Cobwebs.

Ahhhhh... Well it has been almost a year since this has been updated. Lots has been going on and I finally restored this site back to at least to what it was before. Still a lot more I wanted to do but. It is a good start.

I have re-added the family photos link. So you can view them.

Sister today got in a pretty bad car crash. Some ran in to her when she was stopped at a red light. She is ok. Her car is toast. 45,55 MPH no breaking to the back end. Yeah. She has some whiplash related pains hopefully she will recover quickly.

Ok Well this finishes out my first post in a long, long time.

Welcome back ya all.
